Training Description
If you could start from scratch, how would you create youth and family services? This interactive workshop will encourage participants to explore wellness values including those specific to different communities and cultures. It will then look at those values in comparison to how systems are providing services and see where values are aligned and in conflict. Provide information that could enhance the capabilities of agencies that provide services to youth and families including; prepare youth for reintegration into communities and assist individuals and communities by delivering inclusive community-based options and other broad-based services.
Learning Objectives
- Compare current practices in youth services with wellness values
- Construct action plans that support emotional balance and healing for youth across different communities/cultures
- List at least 3 strategies to cope with values in conflict across cultures

9:00 - 9:30Â Welcome, Housekeeping, Agenda Review
9:30 - 10:30 Building a Safe Learning Environment - Compare current practices in youth services with wellness values; Group Activity: What values do we want to see in our system? What values are healing?   Are those congruent with current practices?
10:30 -10:45Â BREAK (CEUs will not be issued for this time)
10:45 - 12:00 Small Group Activity: Creating emotionally well communities: From theory to action plans
12:00 -1:00 LUNCH (CEUs will not be issued for this time)
1:00 - 2:30 Action Planning to support emotional balance and healing for youth across different communities/cultures; Small Group Activity: How do we encourage youth to define their own purpose? What tools/steps lead to wellness and healing?                   Â
2:30 - 2:45 BREAK (CEUs will not be issued for this time)
2:45 - 4:00Â Strategies for when we encounter values conflicts; How do we lead with equality?
4:00 - 4:30 Debrief, Written Evaluation, Close
This course meets the qualifications for (6) BBS CEUs for LCSWs and MFTs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences & is provided by Fred Finch Youth Center, CAMFT Provider #045295.
