Training Description
This training explores how creative art modalities can support grieving system-involved youth, including those facing the death of family members, caregivers, and peers. Participants will examine how to engage and support the layered grief that emerges from disrupted attachments, forced separations, loss through trauma, and silenced disenfranchised grief across foster care, residential care, and probation settings. The session focuses on accessible, art-based strategies designed to be used and taught by affirmed non-artists and creatives alike.
Learning Objectives
Identify at least2 layered and intersecting forms of grief experienced by system-involved youth, including death, loss through trauma, and disrupted attachment, and evaluate how these forms of grief are often silenced or disenfranchised within systems of care.
Acquire at least 2 creative, art-based modalities in supporting grief processing for system-involved youth, with attention to cultural, developmental, and setting-specific considerations.
