Training Description
For many years, it has been believed that the brain's learning ability becomes fixed as we move into adulthood. However, recent discoveries in neuroscience have proven that our brains retain neuroplasticity throughout life. It is important for system-involved youth and families and those who support them to have a source of hope that they can always learn new ways to heal, connect, and thrive despite adversity. This training highlights ground-breaking research on the remarkable ability of our brain to create a path forward through significant loss. Participants will be equipped with the information and tools needed to support system-involved youth (SIY) experiencing death and non-death losses through presenter instruction, learning applications, breakout room sharing, and guided discussion.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
● Identify and explain five key principles for understanding the brain in grief;
