Training Description

This training equips resource families and foster parents with essential knowledge and skills to foster healthy relationships and secure attachments with system-involved youth (SIY) in their care. By exploring attachment theory, different attachment styles, and the concepts of pro-dependency and codependency, caregivers can better support SIY with trauma histories while maintaining their own well-being. By focusing on attachment and adopting a pro-dependency mindset, caregivers can help youth thrive emotionally and relationally, even after experiencing adversity.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify the four main attachment styles and explain their relevance in relationships between caregivers and SIY.
