Training Description
This 6-hour training provides an evidence-based, trauma-informed framework for understanding, preventing, and addressing bullying among system-involved youth including those impacted by foster care, juvenile justice, and behavioral health systems. Participants will explore the intersection of trauma, peer dynamics, and systemic inequities that contribute to bullying behavior and learn culturally responsive, restorative practices that promote resilience and belonging. Through interactive dialogue, small group work, and scenario-based exercises, attendees will gain tools for fostering empathy, accountability, and safety using research-informed models such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) practices, Restorative Practices, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL).
Learning Objectives
Identify four trauma-related factors influencing bullying behaviors among system-involved youth, including adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and peer group dynamics.
Apply three evidence-based practices—CBT-informed practices, restorative conversations, and SEL-based techniques—to reduce bullying and promote healing.
