Training Description

This training equips service/support providers of system-involved youth with trauma-informed strategies to effectively support gang-involved system-involved youth. Participants will learn how trauma and systemic adversity shape behavior and identity while gaining tools to foster safety, trust, and healing-centered engagement, through trauma informed principles. This session emphasizes resilience, empowerment and responsive care for system-involved youth.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify two ways in which trauma and community violence influence gang affiliation among system-involved youth.

  • Explain how at least three of the adverse childhood experiences (ACES), attachment disruptions and complex trauma shape behavior, trust and coping responses.
