Training Description
System-involved youth often experience chronic stress, trauma, and instability that significantly impact their ability to regulate their emotions and remain present in daily activities. This 3-hour training provides evidence-based strategies to teach mindfulness and emotional regulation skills in trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate ways tailored to child welfare and juvenile justice contexts. Participants will explore brain-based foundations of stress, practical mindfulness tools that support regulation, and relationship-centered methods to deliver these skills effectively. Through demonstrations, guided practice, storytelling, and group activities, attendees will learn how to help youth build internal safety, improve executive functioning, and increase resilience.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
Identify and explain 5 trauma-informed mindfulness strategies that support emotional regulation in system-involved youth.
