Training Description
During this intense period of the COVID-19 Pandemic, so many people have experience increased levels of fight or flight/sympathetic dominance. We all need strategies to address our fear, anger, overwhelm and stress. In this class participants will have a chance to talk about their experiences over the last few weeks, explore how they can better help themselves and their clients manage stress now and when things return to the “new” normal. They will learn simple exercises from the field of energy medicine and energy psychology which they can use to regulate their own nervous systems and teach system involved youth and families. Material will be taught through lecture, small group discussion, large group and dyadic practice.
Learning Objectives
- Explain how stress negatively impacts the nervous system
- Implement at least four energy medicine techniques
- Teach at least four energy medicine techniques to their clients
- Articulate a plan for self-regulation when in a crisis

1:15 - 1:45 How have you been handling stress in your personal and professional life in the past few weeks.
1:45 - 2:30 How Stress and Trauma Impact the Nervous System & How Energy Medicine and Tapping impact the nervous system and address stress and trauma
2:30 - 2:45 Break (CEUs will not be issued for this time)
2:45 - 3:15 Energy Medicine Techniques – group and dyadic practice
3:15 - 3:45 Energy Psychology Techniques - group and dyadic practice
3:45 - 4:15 Develop Plan for Self-Regulation; Course Evaluations
Meet Our Trainer
Rachel Michaelsen, LCSW, is a clinical social worker who has worked in HMOs, public agencies, and private practice as both a mental-health provider and a supervisor for over thirty years. She has taught courses in DSM-5, clinical supervision, law and ethics, childhood psychopathology, time management, vicarious traumatization and energy psychology at universities, conferences, and mental-health agencies.
This course meets the qualifications for (3) BBS CEUs for LCSWs and MFTs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences & is provided by Fred Finch Youth Center, CAMFT Provider #045295.
