Training Description
Experience of overwhelm and trauma can often lead to disconnection from internal knowing and wisdom. This training will help those who support system-involved youth and families to understand that learning from the body and listening to its cues and clues is key in helping with self-regulation and supporting wellness. Mindfulness practices can support system-involved youth to build awareness of emotions and how to express and process them in healthy ways. In this training, we will explore not only how connection with our bodies and their rhythms can support healthy boundaries and relationships with others but also how this increase in awareness can support improved outcomes for system-involved youth and families.
Learning Objectives
● Participants will acquire 3 mindfulness practices to support emotional awareness and resilience with system-involved youth.
● Participants will acquire 3 tools for bringing body awareness practices into efforts to serve and/or support system-involved youth and families.
● Participants will acquire at least 2 creative activities to support self-regulation in system-involved youth.
