Training Description
This two-hour introductory training provides service and support providers for system-involved youth with a foundational understanding of the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT), developed by Dr. Bruce Perry and the ChildTrauma Academy. Participants will explore how early life experiences, stress, and trauma shape brain organization and function, and how this understanding informs effective support and relationship-based practice. Through presentation, discussion, and brief experiential exercises, participants will learn to identify the sequential nature of brain development, recognize the impact of developmental disruptions, and apply regulation–relationship–reasoning principles to guide their support for system-involved youth and educational strategies. This session offers practical tools for assessment and case planning that align with the neurobiological realities of healing, promoting resilience, and supporting optimal functioning across developmental stages.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
Explain 3 core principles and the structure of the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT).
