Training Description
Assessing one’s cultural identify as well as experiences of discrimination and oppression become crucial with foster youth and their families. Without this understanding, it will be a challenge to meet them where they are at and understand the experiences they’ve had and are having. In this training, we will talk about ways to increase our understanding of one’s culture during the intake assessment. Participants will also be able to learn how to complete a culturalgram with youth and their families to gain a better understanding of their culture.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will be able to describe the importance of assessing one’s culture with foster youth.
- Participants will be able to identify at least one type of a microaggression.
- Participants will be able to complete a culturalgram with foster youth.
