Training Description
This 4-hour training explores how identity, belonging, and self-esteem develop in youth impacted by foster care and the juvenile justice system. Participants will examine how trauma and displacement affect self-concept and belonging. The session integrates developmental psychology, trauma-informed care, and cultural humility to help professionals foster environments that promote positive identity formation and resilience. Through interactive discussion, reflection, and case-based learning, participants will gain practical tools to strengthen self-worth, connection, and empowerment among system-involved youth.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
Explain at least two developmental processes of identity formation, belonging, and self-esteem in adolescence.
