Training Description

This 1-day training focuses on the intersection of CSEC and technology. The Internet has opened the door to CSEC recruitment, so its crucial providers are continually engaging in dialogue with youth about technology. The training will focus on the dangers of  cell phones, social media, cyber bullying, sexting, and online gaming. The trainers will also discuss safety strategies for each of these categories and conversation starters with youth.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to discuss the intersection of CSEC and technology.
  • Participants will be able to identify at least 2 dangers of technology.
  • Participants will be able to identify at least 3 safety strategies for using technology.
  • Participants will be able to facilitate discussions with youth about technology

9:30-10:00 Welcome and Introductions

10:00-10:45 Teens use of technology, technology & the commercial sex industry

10:45-11:00 Break (CEUs will not be issued for this time)

11:00-12:30 Cell phones, sexting, cyberbullying 

12:30-1:30 Lunch (CEUs will not be issued for this time)

Meet Our Trainers

Nola Brantley, CEO & Founder of Nola Brantley Speaks has become nationally recognized as a powerful Survivor voice for the issue of child sex trafficking through her moving and information packed public speaking. Her hard work and perpetual vigilance has brought both focus and concrete resources to this chronically underserved and largely unrecognized population of victimized youth. Nola’s approach aims to be holistic! 

Nicole Klasey is a clinical psychologist with 16 years of working with system-involved youth. She currently consults with agencies on trauma-informed care, programming for commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC), vicarious trauma, and leadership development. Nicole has been training multidisciplinary audiences on trauma-related topics since 2015 and is an adjunct professor for undergraduate and graduate courses. 

This course meets the qualifications for (5.5) BBS CEUs for LCSWs and MFTs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences & is provided by Fred Finch Youth Center, CAMFT Provider #045295.
