Training Description

This training provides caregivers and youth‑serving professionals with practical knowledge and prevention strategies related to digital safety, online exploitation, and technology‑related risks impacting system‑involved youth. Participants will explore current digital threats, including social media misuse, online grooming, sextortion, and cyberbullying, through real‑world scenarios and trauma‑informed discussion. The training emphasizes prevention, early identification of warning signs, and effective caregiver responses that promote youth safety without excessive restriction. Attendees will leave equipped to support foster and justice‑involved youth in developing safer, healthier digital behaviors.


Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify at least five common digital safety risks affecting foster care and juvenile justice–involved youth, including online grooming, exploitation, and cyberbullying.
