Training Description

Trauma can significantly impact system-involved youth’s sense of self-worth, experience of love, and skew their boundaries. Therefore, it’s essential to have ongoing conversations with youths about consent and coercion. This training will explore examples of how system-involved youth are coerced into commercial sexual exploitation and into staying involved in it. This training will provide trauma-informed strategies for engaging system-involved youth in dialogue about consent and their right to have boundaries respected, as well as approaches for supporting youth in recognizing and respecting the boundaries of others.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish between consent and coercion and identify at least one key difference that relates to the experience of system-involved youth.
