Training Description

There is a prevalence of racial disproportionality and disparity with in the child welfare system. As service providers it is important that we understand the reality of the impact systems have on Black, Indigenous and Youth of Color and the measures that we can take to be anti-racist in this field. In this training we will take a look at the ways in which socialization, oppression, privilege and racism impact communities of color and the field of social welfare. The work has to begins internally, understanding the self and the system that we are a part of to be able to create change. By the end of this 2-part training series participants will develop anti-racist knowledge and practices. It is highly recommended that participants attend both sessions.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to identify 2 ways that socialization has impacted the way they show up as a service provider.
  • Participants will able to name ways that systems oppress communities of color.
  • Participants will be able to apply 1 new anti-racist practice to their work as a service provider.

**This is Day 2 of a 2-day course and it is highly recommended that participants attend both sessions.

9:00–9:15AM  Welcome and Ice Breaker

9:15–10:30AM  White supremacy in Social Work

10:30–11:45AM  BREAK (CEUs will not be issued for this time)

11:45AM–12:00PM Practices for anti-racist work: things to do while we do the work

Day 2 of this course meets the qualifications for (2.75) BBS CEUs for LCSWs and MFTs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences & is provided by Fred Finch Youth Center, CAMFT Provider #045295.
