Training Description

This 6-hour training on filial therapy for system-involved youth (SIY) focuses on how this approach can strengthen relationships between youth and those who support them, improving emotional regulation and communication. Through play-based techniques, participants will learn how filial therapy can help youth express their emotions, build empathy, and develop coping strategies. The training emphasizes the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment where SIY can build trust, resilience, and self-awareness. Overall, filial therapy aims to enhance emotional intelligence, social skills, and long-term mental well-being for youth facing systemic challenges.

  • Participants will be able to identify 3 core principles of filial therapy.

  • Participants will be able to identify 3 play-based techniques that can be used with SIY.
