Training Description
This training will equip participants with the knowledge and skills to recognize and counteract adultification with marginalized system-involved youth. The course emphasizes trauma-informed care principles and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategies and integrates interactive discussions, reflective exercises, and practical role-playing scenarios. Attending this training will enhance participant ability to support system-involved youth by creating more inclusive, supportive, and developmentally appropriate environments.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
· Identify and explain at least 2 key concepts of adultification, including at least one impact on marginalized communities;
· Apply at least 2 new communication techniques that affirm the developmental stages of system-involved youth, reducing the instances of adultification; and
· Develop and organize at least 2 strategies for building resilience and advocacy which can be implement to support the wellness and equitable treatment of system-involved youth.

· Creating Inclusive Environments to Prevent Adultification - Incorporating DEI principles

Meet Our Trainer
Dr. Akua is an Empowerment speaker, coach, training facilitator, and life strategist who believes we each possess the ability to craft a life of wellness so we can show up healthily and as our authentic selves. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Development with a focus on Traumatology Counseling, two Masters degrees, and a host of coaching certifications. She is passionate about helping people who want to achieve their goals.Â
This course meets the qualifications for (4.5) BBS CE hours for LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCCs, and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences & is provided by Fred Finch Youth Center, CAMFT Provider #045295.
