Training Description
The DSM-5 was recently updated and now includes changes in criteria to diagnoses and new diagnoses. Learn how these changes may impact system involved youth and services and support they receive. Training participants will also learn how the DSM addresses diagnostic cultural considerations which are essential to appropriately serving system involved youth.

1. Define a mental health disorder according to the DSM;
2. Differentiate between a culturally bound syndrome and a DSM diagnosis;
3. Identify three changes in the DSM-5 TR that impact system involved youth; and

Meet Our Trainer
Rachel Michaelsen, LCSW, is a clinical social worker who has worked in HMOs, public agencies, and private practice as both a mental-health provider and a supervisor for over thirty years. She has taught courses in diagnoses, clinical supervision, law and ethics, childhood psychopathology, time management, vicarious traumatization, energy psychology and more at universities, conferences, and mental-health agencies.
This course meets the qualifications for (6.0) BBS CEUs for LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCCs, and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences & is provided by Fred Finch Youth Center, CAMFT Provider #045295.
