Training Description
Given the disproportion number of people of color in the prison system, it is important to understand mass incarceration and how it impacts system-involved youth. In this training we will talk about the historical context of mass incarceration, why mass incarceration exists, how it impacts youth, and strategies to support youth who have an incarcerated parent. This understanding is crucial for caregivers and other service or support providers so that they can compassionately support system involved youth impacted by incarceration towards improved outcomes.
Learning Objectives
1. Participants will be able to identify two factors which contribute to mass incarceration.
2. Participants will be able to identify at least 2 impacts of mass incarceration on system-involved youth
