Conflict Resolution Skills for System-Involved Youth and Young Adults

Training Description

Many system-involved youth and young adults struggle with aggression, low frustration tolerance, etc. All this can make conflict much more difficult, which is troublesome given that conflict can arise within families, within relationships with friends and romantic partners, at school, at work, etc. This training will provide an overview of why conflict arises, how to understand conflict through a cultural lens, what happens when conflict isn’t resolved, and conflict resolution skills with system-involved youth in relationships, at school and at work.

Learning Objectives

1. Participants will be able to describe at least 2 conflict resolution skills.

2. Participants will be able to identify at least 1 impact of unresolved conflict in system-involved youth and young adults.

3. Participants will be able to identify at least 1 strategy for addressing conflict in relationships experienced by system involved youth.

Meet Our Trainers

Nicole Klasey is a clinical psychologist who has worked with trauma survivors for 14 years. She currently consults with agencies on trauma-informed care, programming for commercially sexually exploited youth, vicarious trauma, and leadership development. Nicole has been training multidisciplinary audiences on trauma-related topics since 2015 and provides guest lectures at local universities on human trafficking.

This course meets the qualifications for (3.75) BBS CE Hours for LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCCs, and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences & is provided by Fred Finch Youth Center, CAMFT Provider #045295.
