Honoring the Legacy of John F. Steinfirst, Former CEO & Board Emeritus

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share the passing Mr. John F. Steinfirst (1940-2025),’ former CEO and Board Emeritus of Fred Finch Finch Youth & Family Services. John passed away on September 24, 2025 after a brief and intense illness.

John was the father of modern-day Fred Finch and a true champion for vulnerable kids and families. During John’s tenure as CEO (1988-2008), he guided the organization’s transformation from a single site residential treatment facility to an organization serving kids and families in a number of different counties and in a variety of programs.

A huge part of John’s legacy is the number of staff and participants he taught, mentored and influenced over the years. His charm, intellect and larger-than-life personality played a huge part in the lives of so many of us. He will be deeply missed.
