Training Description

This training will introduce participants to the core principles and spirit of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and demonstrate how MI can be used to support system-involved youth and their families as they navigate change. Participants will explore common barriers to change, learn effective communication strategies that enhance engagement, and practice MI skills that promote autonomy and empowerment. The training will also emphasize how MI can be integrated into existing support services to improve collaboration, reduce resistance, and strengthen outcomes for youth and families.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify the 4 core components of the MI spirit and explain at least 2 ways each component enhances engagement with system-involved youth.
