Training Description
This training will equip resource families with a comprehensive understanding of neurodiversity and its impact on system-involved youth (SIY). Participants will explore key themes such as recognizing neurodiverse traits, addressing trauma-related behaviors, and implementing evidence-based strategies to create inclusive, supportive environments. Through case studies, role-playing activities, and collaborative discussions, attendees will gain practical tools to enhance communication, manage challenging behaviors, and advocate for services. By attending this training, resource families will be better prepared to meet the unique needs of neurodiverse foster youth, fostering stability, growth, and well-being. The material will be delivered by PowerPoint presentation, short video clips, group discussion, breakout (small group) discussions and participant workbook (handout).
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
·       Identify at least three common neurodiverse conditions (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Dyslexia) and explain their behavioral traits in system-involved youth.
