Training Description

Distress tolerance skills and interpersonal effectiveness skills are essential for system-involved youth and young adults to master. Distress tolerance skills can help individuals tolerate stressful situations. These skills are crucial as they help individuals manage their emotions and impulses in crises. Interpersonal effectiveness skills can help individuals who struggle to understand, build and maintain relationships. This workshop will provide an overview of distress tolerance skills and techniques that can be used by system-involved youth to help them tolerate their distress. The training will also equip you with the skills and knowledge to increase system-involved youth’s interpersonal relationships.


Learning Objectives

·        Participants will be able to identify at least one distress tolerance skill and explain how it can help system-involved youth.

·        Participants will be able to explain how radical acceptance can support improved outcomes for system-involved youth.
