Training Description

Supporting system-involved youth (SIY) requires extra supports to transcending their negative past experiences and “acting out” that comes with it, to effectively engaging them towards building a life that is constructive, brings value, provides income, inspires joy, and promotes success in social settings, academics, and career related activities, and brings about a feeling of security in the individual that leads to healthy engagement with community. Children and youth with anxious or avoidant spectrum relationship attachment styles may not respond to dopamine releasing praise from an adult. In order to guide these children and youth to “find their way”, a suggested approach would be to utilize restorative actions and strategic core verbal strategies.
