Training Description
One of the most significant challenges for clinicians these days is effectively engaging patients and clients, especially those perceived as being challenging, like those with behavioral challenges, as well as patients and clients with substance use disorder. We will learn how to expand upon the uses of motivational interviewing (MI) and explore MI microskills like enhanced listening and “reading” techniques, exploring the power of affirmations and include an introduction to healing informed coaching to support dually diagnosed people towards healthier lifestyles.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will explore a review of Motivational Interviewing as a brief therapeutic support strategy for helping individuals to change problematic pattern behaviors
- Participants will learn enhanced reflective listening techniques with individuals to change problematic pattern behaviors and substance abusing patients
- Participants will learn the rationale for heightening emphasis on affirmations as an effective MI microskill
- Participants will explore how to establish a healing-informed Situational Leadership coaching relationship
