About the Event

Training Description

While there is a growing awareness about sexual abuse in regard to prevention and intervention, system-involved youth with disabilities are often left out of the conversation. This is problematic because system-involved youth with disabilities are at heightened risk for sexual abuse. This training will provide an overview of the prevalence of sexual abuse of system-involved youth with disabilities, risk factors, prevention, and strategies to support them.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to identify at least one risk factor for youth with disabilities to be sexually abused.

  • Participants will be able to identify at least one preventive strategy to protect disabled system-involved youth from abuse.
