Training Description
System-involved youth may externalize their distress and engage in risky behaviors. So, it is imperative for providers, caregivers, parents and other natural support people to learn how to navigate crises with high-risk youth. The training will help providers understand the function of the behavior, how to apply harm reduction strategies, and how to create a safety plan with system involved youth engaging in risky behaviors.
Learning Objectives
1. Participants will be able to describe harm reduction principles with high-risk individuals
2. Participants will be able to identify at least one safety strategy for system-involved youth who engage in risky behaviors
3. Participants will be able to describe the crisis cycle.
