Training Description

System Involved Youth (SIY) often experience attachment disorder due to an absence of original family. Attachment is essential for human survival as it is both physical and emotional unbearable without connection.  In the absence of a secure attachment to self or parent, an external relationship, a substitute relationship is formed. Many times System Involved Youth form a substitute relationship with a substance such as tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, etc. This course will help participants develop an understanding of how essential a healthy secure attachment to self and an external relationship is for System Involved Youth. Participants will understand that a substitute relationship can be formed with a substance. Participants will learn how to support System Involved Youth in beginning to heal insecure substitute relationships and how to develop healthy relationships both internally and externally.

Learning Objective

  • Participants will learn how substance use can develop as a substitute relationship for System Involved Youth.
  • Participants will learn about the importance of preventing and healing addiction and troublesome use in system involved youth.
  • Participants will learn to introduce and implement an integral whole process to promote healthy relationships to with system involved youth.
  • Participants will explore discovering/rediscovering connection to self and basic trust in healthy relationships and in life using techniques from an integral whole process as well as how to introduce these techniques to system involved youth.

Tory Ponsford is the Co-Founder of Evolution Consulting Firm. He brings over 25 years of professional experience to the team. Michele Ponsford is the Co-Founder of Evolution Consulting Firm. She has developed her career in the San Francisco Bay Area over the past 20 years. Her experience in Business Management has deepened her understanding of the value of breathing humanity and morality into business globally. Consulting with businesses to evolve into purpose driven entities has become her current passion. Michele specializes in teaching conscious business communication techniques, creating healthy business cultures & relationships as well as implementing core values into systems & operations. Michele is a Certified Awakening Excellence Instructor with the Total Integration Institute.
