Training Description
Given the disproportionate number of youth of color in the foster care system, it’s imperative for social service providers to provide culturally relevant services. This 3-hour webinar will explore cultural perspectives on trauma, healing, and resiliency. With a greater cultural understanding of these concepts, providers will be able to increase their engagement with youth and families in more culturally meaningful ways.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will be able to discuss the importance of understanding through a cultural lens.
- Participants will be able to identify at least 2 ways culture impacts healing.
- Participants will be able to facilitate discussions with youth about culture.
Agenda
1:00-1:20pm Welcome and Introductions
1:20-2:30pm Cultural understanding of trauma
2:30-2:45pm Break (CEUs will not be issued for this time)
2:45-3:45pm Cultural understanding of healing and resiliency
3:45-4:00pm Questions & Answers, evaluations, closing
