Training Description
One of the most significant challenges for those supporting system involved youth (SIY) with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) is to effectively teach them to advocate successfully for themselves while building diplomatic alliances with those they are in relationship with that are sustainable and lead to healthy relationships and overall improved outcomes. In this training, we will explore how to enhance our capacity to support system involved youth by examining how to Teach Assertive Communication Skills to SIY with CPTSD and support healing of their Attachment Styles with others and strengthening of their ability to heal from traumatic events so that they can lead a meaningful life. Practicing and sharing the methods outlined by this workshop will allow us to improve the practice of how we empower system-involved youth.
Learning Objectives
● Participants will be able to identify at least 2 methods for Teaching/Coaching the Healing of Attachment Styles that fosters alliances of system-involved youth with others.
● Participants will be able to identify at least 2 methods for Teaching/Coaching Assertive Communication that promotes relationship building with system-involved youth.
● Participants will acquire and be able to apply at least 2 strategies for Teaching/Coaching Assertive Communication with system involved youth which supports success in academics, careers, and life.

10:00-10:05am Sign-in and Introduction
10:05-10:15am Explore a sampling of Alternative Healing Techniques to sustainably support youth who are system involved or at high risk for system involvement towards healing their Attachment Styles with others
10:15-10:30am Learn Teaching/Coaching Techniques which can foster the healing of Attachment Styles in youth who are system involved or at high risk for system involvement
10:30-10:45am Practice in Roleplay with Colleagues Teaching/Coaching Techniques that foster the healing of Attachment Styles in youth who are system involved or at high risk for system involvement (with high rates of CPTSD) and prepare them to have better relationships with others.
10:45-11:00am Learn Teaching/Coaching Assertiveness Communication Skill Techniques to be used when supporting youth who are system involved or at high risk for system involvement (with high rates of CPTSD) to advocate successfully for themselves while building diplomatic alliances that lead to healthy personal relationships
11:00-11:15am Practice in Roleplay with Colleagues Teaching/Coaching Assertiveness Communication Skill Techniques which can strengthen system involved youth resilience and well-being in personal relationships.
11:15-11:30am Learn Teaching/Coaching Assertiveness Communication Skill Techniques to be used when supporting youth who are system involved or at high risk for system involvement (with high rates of CPTSD) to advocate successfully for themselves while building diplomatic alliances with those they are in academic, career, and institutional relationships which support success in life.

Meet Our Trainer
Mr. Robert Dousa is the founding Managing General Partner of Independent Strengths Building Consulting. This business includes: Individual Anger Management & Addictive Behavior Recovery Coaching, Conducting training of: Situational Leadership/Strengths-Based Life Skills Coaching, Brief Intervention & Motivational Interviewing, Drug, Anger Management, & Family interventions, Neuroscience-Based Leadership & Rapport Building, & Organizational Prevention Strategy Consultation, & Mandated Reporter Training for CA. Mr. Robert Dousa's has retired from the Marin County Office of Education Safe Schools Department and is now providing individual life coaching, intervention coach training, and consulting to those supporting system involved youth. Prior to retirement, he developed the majority of his practice from his work as the Program Manager for the Oakland Unified School District’s Alcohol, Tobacco, and Drugs Intervention program from 2005 to 2021. Prior to that, he served as a substance abuse counselor in school districts in Alameda County, CA from 2000 to 2005.
This course meets the qualifications for (2.0) BBS CE hours for LCSWs, LMFTs, LPCCs, and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences & is provided by Fred Finch Youth Center, CAMFT Provider #045295.
