Training Description

System Involved Youth (SIY) experience the dissonant feelings and emotional experiences of separation, grief and loss. SIY infrequently have any knowledge or understanding of the purpose of these emotions nor have the ability to effectively organize their emotional experiences.  Giving SIY basic knowledge of their emotions as well as their purpose for overcoming grief and loss creates an opportunity for SIY to comprehend their emotional experiences and subsequent behaviors.  Somatic techniques and practices will be shared for supporting SIY experiencing separation, grief and loss.

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will learn the purpose of dissonant feelings including sadness, grief, loss, and the effects of separation on SIY.
  • Participants will learn somatic strategies and techniques to support SIY with the effects of separation, grief and loss.
  • Participants will gain an understanding of how reframing beliefs about change can affect the internal processing system of loss, grief and separation for SIY.
