The Alameda County Homeless Youth Collaborative (HYC) was formed in 1996 to address Alameda County’s need for housing and supportive services for homeless youth and young adults between the ages of 13 and 25. Fred Finch Youth Center is the lead agency and fiscal sponsor of this Collaborative, which draws upon the strengths of five independently funded organizations. HYC operates five transitional housing programs, where youth can live for up to two years while they receive the support they need to progress toward their goals. HYC also operates three drop-in sites where youth can access the program’s continuum of services. The Collaborative does extensive street outreach to homeless young people to inform them about these services.
